• Started the season with second-career home run on first pitch he saw against the Spartans (2/15)

2018 (FRESHMAN)

• Batted .223 (27-for-121) with seven doubles, one home run and one triple with 16 RBIs
• Notched first start of career against Murray State (2/18) where he also swiped his first-career bag
• Boasted first multi-hit game of career against Northwestern (2/24)
• Recorded a double and a run scored against Texas Southern (3/2)
• Drew a walk and scored a run at then-No. 4 Florida State
• Drove in first-career RBI against then-No. 20 St. John’s (3/10)
• Followed that up with the first home run of his career against the Red Storm (3/11)
• Started all three games at Baylor (3/23-25) where he turned in a combined eight assists, including a career-high five on Friday (3/23)
• Career-high three hits, including first-ever triple, against Morehead State (3/31)
• Recorded team’s only extra-base hit (2B) against then-No. 5 Texas Tech (4/8)

• Four-year letterwinner for head coach Craig McBride at Niwot High School
• Batted .484 with eight doubles, four triples, four home runs and 21 RBIs in 19 games his senior year
• Two-time all-conference honoree his freshman and junior years
• Northern Conference Player of the Year his senior campaign
• Academic all-state his junior and senior years.

PERSONAL

• Born in Boulder, Colorado
• Son of Cary and Barbara Messinger
• Has one brother, Connor
• Brother played four years of collegiate baseball splitting evenly between Omaha and Nebraska-Kearney
• Grandfather, Tom Messinger, played golf and hockey at Michigan
• Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 22nd round of the 2017 MLB Draft
• Plans to major in sport management
