LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas rowing has announced details about the upcoming Jayhawk Jamboree on Sunday, Oct. 23 on the shores of the Kansas River in Burcham Park.

With each passing year the Jayhawk Jamboree has increasingly become a spectacle for the community of Lawrence. This year will be no different as the Jamboree welcomes an assortment of food and drink vendors, live music, and an appearance by the Kansas Spirit Squad. The Jamboree embodies a great event for fans of all ages to take advantage of a day along the Kansas River.

Races begin at 11 a.m., and last until 3:30 p.m.

The Kansas Rowing Boathouse is located along the Kansas River and is accessible at the entrance of Burcham Park at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Indiana Street in Lawrence.

OAR GIVEAWAY
Fans can enter now for a chance to win an official Kansas rowing oar during the Jayhawk Jamboree. The winner will be chosen at random after the sweepstakes end on the day of the Jamboree, Sunday, Oct. 23. Entries from participants in grades 9-12 will not be eligible to win. No purchase necessary. 

PARKING
Parking shuttles will be available to fans throughout the surrounding premises of Burcham Park.

2016-17 ROWING SCHEDULE
The 2016-17 Kansas rowing schedule will commence with the fourth annual Jayhawk Jamboree on Oct. 23. The regatta will begin at approximately 11 a.m., and will conclude in the afternoon. Accompanying Kansas in the races are women’s varsity teams from Tulsa, Iowa, Creighton and Kansas State.

The Jayhawks will wrap up their fall season Nov. 4-5 in Catoosa, Oklahoma at the Tulsa Fall Invitational.

Leading off the spring schedule is a return trip to Catoosa, Oklahoma on March 4 against Tulsa. The following weekend, March 11-12, the team will head to Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational.

The month of April is filled with travel.  April 1, the Jayhawks will face Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana. The team will head to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Big 12 Double Dual on April 8, and will take on teams in Lake Ridge, Virginia at the George Mason Invitational April 23.

Closing out the month, on April 29, the Jayhawks will return to Kansas for the annual Dillions Sunflower Showdown versus in-state rival, Kansas State, at Wyandotte County Lake in Kansas City, Kansas.

Similar to last year, the postseason Big 12 Championships will take place in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The dates are set for May 13-14. Following, the NCAA Championship is set for May 26-28 in West Windsor, New Jersey.
