Fire and Ice: Cold Temps Alter Red-Hot Jayhawks' Weekend Slate

GAINESVILLE, Florida – An arctic blast affecting much of the United States has dipped all the way into Florida causing Aquafina Invitational tournament organizers to adjust the weekend playing schedule, including Kansas softball’s contests.

Temperatures were expected to be near freezing during the originally schedule game times Friday morning, prompting a change Thursday evening. Kansas was originally schedule to match-up with Mercer in the second game of the tournament Friday, followed by a contest with No. 1 and tournament host Florida. Instead, Kansas will take on Liberty, still in the tournament’s second game, at 11:15 a.m. (CT) and face Illinois State in a game immediately following at 1:30 p.m. (CT).

The undefeated Jayhawks will get their shot at the defending National Champion Gators at 1:15 p.m. (CT) Saturday, the first of another set of back-to-back contests for KU. Kansas will play Mercer a second time at 3:30 p.m. (CT).

The Jayhawks close the Aquafina Invite Sunday with a 8 a.m. (CT) meeting with Illinois State again. All five contests can be heard at KUAthletics.com/radio or by clicking the links on the schedule page at KUAthletics.com.
