Softball Washed Out in Jacksonville Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Kansas has defeated 17 of the 18 opponents it’s faced during the 2015 softball season but there was no beating the weather Sunday morning as persistent rain continued to poke holes in the UNF Tournament schedule. The Jayhawk’s 8:30 a.m. (CT) meeting with South Dakota was cancelled after crews worked all morning to prep the field, only to see rain continue to fall. The meeting between both squads Saturday afternoon was also cancelled.

Kansas closed the weekend with a 3-0 mark in the tournament, picking up wins over North Florida, Siena and Stony Brook, to improve to 17-1 on the season. Kansas has won five straight after a loss to No. 1 Florida in Gainesville last weekend, and opened the year with a program-best 12-straight wins to start 2015.

The Jayhawks will return to Florida next weekend for another five-game tournament hosted by Stetson in DeLand, Florida. The field includes Chattanooga, LaSalle and Chattanooga.
