Pille Earns Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Honors

IRVING, Texas – Kansas pitcher Alicia Pille was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league for the week ending on March 16. It is the first weekly conference accolade for Pille.

Pille’s award marks the second week in a row that a Jayhawk has been recognized by the Big 12. Sophomore Chaley Brickey was named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week last week.

A native of Royse City, Texas, Pille tossed back-to-back complete game shutouts last week against South Dakota State and Jackson State and recorded 12 consecutive scoreless innings. The junior was 2-0 in the circle in two starts, allowing just three hits and two walks. Opponents hit .079 when Pille was pitching.

Pille struck out a total of 15 batters on the week, including 10 K’s against Jackson State for her fourth double-digit strikeout effort of the season.
