Stein Earns First Big 12 Weekly Honor

IRVING, Texas – Kansas senior Maddie Stein has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week for the week of March 24, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first conference weekly accolade for Stein and the third of the season for the Jayhawks.

A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Stein registered a .500 batting average aiding in Kansas’ perfect 5-0 mark on the week at Arrocha Ballpark. Stein recorded five RBIs in five starts, but none as important as the last RBI. With her fifth RBI of the week, Stein became Kansas’ all-time RBI leader, a solo home run, which also proved to be the game-winning run against Georgia State (3/22).

Stein recorded five hits, four runs scored and three walks to go along with her five RBIs and home run. She also posted a .800 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage. Stein ended the weekend with 33 putouts, four assists and no errors in five games.

To start the week, Stein recorded a 2-for-3 performance at the plate against Indiana State (3/17), her ninth multi-hit effort of the season. She also posted two RBIs in the win against UMKC (3/20), her seventh multi-RBI effort of the year.
