KU Softball Announces Summer Camp Dates

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball will have a lineup of camps and clinics this summer that will offer a chance for players of various ages and skill levels to develop their game as the Jayhawk coaching staff announced the 2014 summer camp dates.

The 2014 camp lineup includes, Youth Camp (June 9-11), High School All-Skills Camp (June 23-24) and Pitcher/Catcher Camp (June 25-26). This year’s camps will be held at the newly-constructed Rock Chalk Park, the new home of Kansas softball starting in 2015. Current and past KU student-athletes will be assisting at the various camps.

Youth Camp (June 9-11)
This camp is intended for those players just beginning to play softball and will focus on the fundamentals of the game. Kansas coaches and players will be on hand to walk the campers through drills and teach the skills needed to play. All skills will be introduced including pitching and catching. The Youth Camp is for those in fourth-seventh grade and runs from 9 a.m. – noon.
 
High School All-Skills Camp (June 23-24)
The all-skills camp will focus on the fundamentals of hitting and defense in an effort to prepare the student-athlete to compete at a high level. Coaches from various levels will be on hand to assist, as well as KU alumnae. The All-Skills Camp is for eighth- 12th graders and is from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. the first day and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. the second.
 
Pitcher/Catcher Camp (June 25-26)
The pitcher/catcher camp is focused on the specific positional skills needed to compete at a high level. The Kansas staff, along with other collegiate coaches, will provide individual instruction. The Pitcher/Catcher Camp is for eighth-12th graders and is from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. the first day and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. the second.
