Six Jayhawks named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team

Kansas has won the doubles point in 22 out of 23 dual matches this season. The Jayhawks opened the 2019 season by securing the doubles point in 11-straight matches, and now have another streak of 11 in a row.

Rychagova, Khmelnitckaia and Toran Ribes earned All-Tournament singles honors as well. At No. 1 singles, Rychagova, ranked No. 22 in the country, bested Oklahoma State’s No. 26-ranked Stresnakova; her two other matches ended unfinished.  Khmelnitckaia and Toran Ribes went 3-0 during the tournament at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Toran Ribes, whose victories clinched the semifinal and championship matches for Kansas, was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

With the Big 12 Conference Championship victory, Kansas tennis has earned an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks now await the NCAA Selection Show announcement on Monday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m. The NCAA Tournament begins play on Friday, May 3.
