Kansas to open spring exhibition season Saturday at Rock Chalk Park

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer will open its 2018 spring exhibition season Saturday when the Jayhawks take on the UMKC Kangaroos inside Rock Chalk Park. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m., with admission free to the public.

Saturday’s match will be the first of five exhibitions Kansas will take part in this spring on American soil. Following its match with the Kangaroos, KU will embark on a nine-day trip in Europe March 16-25, where it will play four matches against top-tier club teams.
 
After the return from their tour through France, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, the Jayhawks will play host to the Sporting Blue Valley U14 Boys Team, on Wednesday, April 4. The match with Sporting BV will begin at 7 p.m., inside Rock Chalk Park.
 
The following week, Kansas will play two matches in three days, both at Rock Chalk Park. The first will be against the Bears of Missouri State, with first touch slated for 4 p.m., on Saturday, April 14. The second, a contest against the Sporting KC U14 Academy Boys, will take place on Monday, April 16 at 7 p.m.

KU will hit the road to close out the spring season on Sunday, April 22 when it takes on Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Jayhawks and Falcons are set to kick off at 12 p.m. (CT).
 
Kansas is coming off a season which saw the Jayhawks go 8-9-3 and finish sixth in the Big 12 with a 3-5-1 record in league play.

The Jayhawks will have some big shoes to fill left by departing senior starters Kayla Morrison, Lois Heuchan and goalkeeper Maddie Dobyns. Kansas is expecting to see the return of six starters from last season, including All-Big 12 second teamer Grace Hagan.
