Young named to Google Cloud Academic All-District team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas senior Kaycie Young has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Young, a fifth-year senior, started all 19 games in the Jayhawk midfield this season, scoring a goal and adding an assist to go along with 27 shots. The Portland transfer averaged 81.9 minutes per games as she helped the Jayhawks to an 11-5-3 record and an NCAA Tournament berth. Off the field, Young is currently in pursuit of a master’s degree in exercise science and boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
