Formby Garners Third Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Honor

IRVING, Texas – For the second week in a row, and third time this season, Kansas right-hander Andie Formby has collected Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.

Formby, a sophomore from Orange, California, helped the Jayhawks to a perfect 2-0 record last week while posting a 0.00 ERA in two appearances. Following her no-hit performance to end the Rock Chalk Challenge Tournament, Formby returned to the circle and tossed her eighth complete game of 2016 and sixth complete-game shutout.

In her start in game one of a doubleheader against Evansville, Formby struck out a career-high nine batters en route to her first victory of the week. She entered in relief in the second game of the doubleheader and threw six more scoreless innings to move to 11-2 on the season while lowering her ERA to 1.50, second-lowest in the Big 12.

Formby struck out a total of 13 batters last week in 13 innings of work without allowing a walk or an earned run. Dating back to her no-hitter on March 20, Formby hasn’t allowed a run to cross home plate in 19-straight innings of work.
