Kansas falls to No. 11/12 Texas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – In the second game of the three game series with No. 11/12 Texas, the Jayhawks dropped the game to the Longhorns 10-1 in five innings at Arrocha Ballpark.

Despite the result, the Jayhawks were treated to an Arrocha Ballpark record crowd of 2,478, which included standing-room only capacity. The previous record attendance also came against Texas on April 28, 2017, when a then-record crowd of 1,492 filled Arrocha Ballpark.

Texas didn’t waste time scoring runs, plating their first run in the first inning off Kansas (15-31, 3-11 Big 12) starter Tarin Travieso.

Travieso pitched into the second but found herself in trouble and was relieved by Mills. The Longhorns were able to plate three runs in the second inning.

Texas continued its scoring onslaught in the third, plating six runs off Mills and Hannah Todd.

Kansas was able to find success in the fourth inning, scoring its lone run of the game. Brittany Jackson opened the inning with a triple to center field and scored on the next at bat after a Morgyn Wynne single.

Jackson finished with two hits and was the lone Jayhawk to record a multiple-hit game.
