Ramsey, Wynne named to Big 12 All-Freshman Team

IRVING, Texas – Sydnee Ramsey and Morgyn Wynne were named to the 2019 Big 12 All-Freshman Team as announced by the conference on Thursday. Ramsey was a unanimous selection by the Big 12 coaches.

“I am very excited for Sydnee (Ramsey) and Morgyn (Wynne) to represent Kansas on the Big 12 All-Freshman team,” said head coach Jennifer McFalls. “It says a lot about what we are trying to build and the future we have at KU. Both are high-impact players and are excited about their future.”

Ramey, a redshirt-freshman from Oklahoma City, Okla., hit .263 while starting in 41 games this season. She led Kansas with 19 RBI and was second in home runs (6) and hits (36). Ramsey was a staple at shortstop and started all 18 games of Big 12 action.

Wynne led Kansas in batting average (.298), home runs (7), total bases (64) and slugging percentage (.529). The Pittsburg, Calif., native was second on the team during conference play in batting average (.288) and RBI (6), while tallying a team-high two home runs.

Wynne and Ramsey join current Jayhawk Tarin Travieso as selections to the Big 12 All-Freshman team. Travieso was a 2018 selection.

Kansas opens the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. against No. 4 seed Texas Tech and concludes play on day one against No. 1 seed Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Okla.
