Softball releases 2019 fall schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas softball announced its eight-game fall schedule on Tuesday which includes seven home contests.

“I think our fall schedule has come together well to give us the opportunity to face good competition and provide a good measurement to assess our talent,” Head coach Jennifer McFalls said. “We have a big roster this year with six freshmen and one transfer, so I am excited to see how things come together.”

The team will open up their fall season against Seminole State College on September 15 at Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park.

This will be the first contest for the seven newcomers to the 2019-20 KU roster. Transfer Hailey Reed will be joining incoming freshmen Haleigh Harper, Peyton Renzi, Jordan Richards, Madison Hirsch, Ashlyn Anderson and Tatum Goff as they suit up for Kansas for the first time.

The Jayhawks follow their fall opener up with six-consecutive home contests over three weeks, including matchups with Johnson County (Sept. 18), Des Moines Area Community College (Sept. 24), Emporia State (Sept. 28), Ottawa (Sept. 28), Central Missouri (Oct. 3) and Butler Community College (Oct. 8).

Kansas is slated to close out its fall schedule on October 11 at Wichita State in Wilkins Stadium.

“We have a lot of work to do this fall to prepare for another tough schedule in 2020,” Mcfalls said. “The fall is certainly not about winning and losing, but about developing players and deciding on roles. I am really excited to get started with practice and watching our players compete this fall.”
