Stafford named Kansas’ head cheerleading coach

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Drake Stafford as the head cheerleading coach at the University of Kansas. 

Prior to his promotion, Stafford previously served as an assistant coach at KU. Additionally, Stafford has been a camp instructor, choreographer and coach in Oklahoma and his home state of Arkansas.
 
A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Statistics and Marketing, Stafford was on OSU’s Large Coed Team from 2013-17. During that time, he was a three-time collegiate All-American and two-time National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) National Champion.

In addition to coaching, Stafford works in human resources in Kansas City and does choreography for a number of high school cheer teams across the Midwest and South.
