2005 (Junior): Named All-Big 12 Second Team by the coaches … Selected All-Big 12 Second Team by the Dallas Morning News … Named Academic All-Big 12 First Team … Started 60 games, all as KU[apos]s leadoff hitter … Led KU with 23 multi-hit games … Led the Jayhawks in hits (75), stolen bases (30) and sacrifice bunts (8) … His 30 stolen bases rank 10th most for a single season in KU history … Had 245 at-bats, fifth most in a single season … Strung together a hitting streak of 10 games during the season … Tallied 10 RBI and hit a team-best .400 in KU[apos]s first eight games and was named the Big 12 Player of the Week.

2004 (Sophomore): Became the first ever Kansas player named All-Big 12 First Team by league coaches … Started 60 games, splitting time between second base (29 starts) and centerfield (31 starts) … Collected 62 hits to post a .344 batting average, third on the team … Batted leadoff in all 60 games and finished the season with a team-leading 62 runs scored, while driving in 30 runs … Finished fourth in the conference with 26 stolen bases in 36 attempts … Tied with brother Ryan for the team lead with 28 multi-hit games … Posted a career-long 12-game hitting streak … Led the team with a .393 average against right-handed pitchers … Tied a school record with eight at bats against Oklahoma State on April 8.

2003 (Freshman): Took over the starting job at second base midway through the season … Started a total of 35 games … Ranked third on the team with a batting average of .336 … Ranked second on the team with 14 stolen bases in 18 attempts … Garnered a total of 10 sacrifices.

High School: A 2002 graduate of Maize High School … Earned four varsity letters in baseball … A two-time first team all-state selection for head coach and former Jayhawk Rocky Helm … Earned all-league honors all four years of high school including back-to-back first team selections as a junior and senior … Helped the team to a second place finish at the 6A state tournament in 2000 … Batted .522 as a senior and led the team in stolen bases and base hits … Was a member of the school[apos]s honor roll … Played summer ball in 2002 for the Wichita Gamecocks and led the team in batting average, stolen bases and OBP.

Personal: Born January 14, 1984, in Wichita, Kan … Parents are Ray and Sheryl Baty … Brother, Ryan, played four season at KU (2000-04) and signed a free agent contract with the Devil Rays organization following the 2003 season.
