The Kansas duo of Taiyanna Jackson and Zakiyah Franklin combined for 41 points, but the Jayhawks came up just short as No. 24 Texas edged Kansas, 68-65, in Big 12 women’s basketball play Saturday afternoon in Allen Fieldhouse.

The final day of the Husker Invitational saw a pair of KU school records fall inside the Devaney Center Indoor Complex, as Alexander Jung broke the heptathlon school record and Gabrielle Gibson broke the 60 meter hurdles school record.

The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the visiting Iowa State Cyclones by a score of 174-126 on Saturday, with the Jayhawks winning the first three events of the morning.

Kansas track and field opened its competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, highlighted by junior Chandler Gibbens running a meet record 14:05.31 to win the 5,000 meters.

Kansas claimed first in six of the eight events swam on Friday night, including a sweep in the 50 freestyle. Kansas leads by a score of 90-60 heading into day two on Saturday.

The Kansas Women’s Golf team continues the 2022-23 spring season at the UCF Challenge, Feb.5-7, at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. This will be the first time KU has been back to the event since 2012.

The Kansas Jayhawks are set for a pivotal Big 12 matchup on Saturday, Feb. 4, as KU welcomes conference-leader No. 24 Texas to Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas senior center Taiyanna Jackson is one of the Top 10 candidates for the 2023 Lisa Leslie Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Friday.

No. 8 Kansas (18-4, 6-3) will play against its sixth ranked opponent in its last seven games when the Jayhawks play at No. 13 Iowa State on Feb. 4. The game from Hilton Coliseum will begin at 11 a.m. (Central) and be televised on ESPN.
