2009 (So.): Started two games at nickel back and saw a lot of time as a backup defensive back and special teams player… Started against Iowa State and Oklahoma… Led the team with two interceptions on the year… Pickoffs came against Southern Mississippi and Oklahoma… Broke up two passes and recovered one fumble on the season… Made 14 tackles on the year… Had two tackles for loss, including a sack… Sack came against Iowa State… Fumble recovery was at Colorado… Had a season-high four tackles against Iowa State… Made three stops against Oklahoma.

2008 (Fr.): Earned KU Scout Team Defensive Player of the Week vs. Missouri … Played as a backup cornerback, as well as seeing time on special teams in the last half of the season… Recorded two tackles on the year.

2007 (RS): Redshirted his first year at Kansas… Earned KU Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week honors vs. Oklahoma State.

High School: Had an outstanding senior season which saw him earn all-state first-team honors at quarterback and second-team accolades at defensive back… Named to the Kansas Top 11 team… Ranked among the top five prospects in the state of Kansas and as the 27th-most talented cornerback in the nation by Rivals.com… Was an all-league first team selection at quarterback in 2006 and a second-team selection at defensive back… Rushed for more than 1,000 yards, passed for more than 1,800 yards and scored 33 touchdowns as a senior… Is Free State High School[apos]s career interceptions leader (eight), single-season total offense leader (2,984) and single-season passing leader (1,863)… Helped the Firebirds to the Sunflower League title and state semifinals in 2006… Earned varsity letters in football, basketball and track… Coached in football by Bob Lisher… Named to the Free State honor roll.

Personal: Born in Camden, Ark… Major is psychology… Would like to start a family after college… Likes to watch movies and play video games… Son of Rebecca and the late Marcus Murphy, Sr… Has two brothers, including a twin Brian, who was on the KU football team in 2007, but transferred to Emporia State.
