Kale Pick, a recently graduated Kansas wide receiver, has traded in his cleats for a whistle as he joined the Jayhawk coaching staff as a graduate assistant for offense in May 2012. In his new role Pick works closely with the KU wide receivers and assistant coach Rob Ianello. A Dodge City, Kan., native, Pick spent the majority of his first two seasons at Kansas playing quarterback before finding a home as a wide receiver. He was the Jayhawks[apos] top pass catcher in 2012 and concluded his career with 63 receptions for 752 yards and two touchdowns. 2012 (Sr.): Played in 11 games, starting 10 at wide receiver… Missed the TCU game with an injury… Led the team with 26 catches for 390 yards… Recorded five catches for a career-best 81 yards against South Dakota State, including a career-long 43-yard pass on KU[apos]s first play from scrimmage in the season opener… Made two catches for 45 yards at NIU, including a 33-yard reception… Lined up in the [quote]Jayhawk[quote] formation at Kansas State, recording first carries from scrimmage since 2010… Also added two catches for 26 yards against the Wildcats… Tallied four catches for 74 yards against Oklahoma State… Recorded a 42-yard pooch punt against OSU, the first of his career… Grabbed three passes for 56 yards, including a 37-yard catch, at Baylor… Made a pair of catches for 37 yards on Senior Day against Iowa State.

2011 (Jr.): Played in all 12 games, making seven starts … Had 21 catches in KU[apos]s final six games, including a career-high six receptions against Kansas State … Collected three catches for 55 yards and tallied first career touchdown against Northern Illinois … Scored on a 36-yard pass from Jordan Webb just before the half against the Huskies … Made four catches for 31 yards against Texas Tech … Had six catches for 52 yards against Kansas State … Hauled in three passes for 35 yards at Iowa State … Recorded five receptions for 39 yards against Baylor … Made five catches for 46 yards at Texas A&M … Reeled in two receptions for 20 yards against Missouri.

2010 (So.): Started the season-opener at quarterback and then played as a reserve at that position in three other games… Played the last two games of the year at wide receiver… First career start at quarterback was against North Dakota State and he was 13 of 22 for 138 yards… Other extensive action was a seven of 12 for 40 yards day against Texas A&M… Was 21 of 36 for 193 yards on the season… As a wide receiver in the final two games he caught three passes for 18 yards… Had two receptions for nine yards against Oklahoma State and one for nine yards against Missouri… Missed some time during the season due to a leg injury.

2009 (RFr.): Saw action in seven games as a backup to record-setting quarterback Todd Reesing… First collegiate action came in season-opener against Northern Colorado when he was two of two passing for 11 yards and rushed three times for 47 yards… On the season he hit four of five attempts for 22 yards, while rushing 14 times for 167 yards… His rushing total was third on the team… Ran twice for 87 yards, including a 55-yarder at UTEP in his second game… In addition to the Northern Colorado game he was one of one passing for five yards at UTEP and one of two for six yards at Texas Tech.

2008 (Fr.): Earned KU[apos]s Otto Schnellbacher Offensive Scout Player of the Year honor… Named KU Scout Team Player of the Week vs. both South Florida and vs. Texas… Redshirted the season.

High School: Participated in spring practice at KU after graduating early from high school… Suffered a season-ending injury in his first game as a senior… As a junior he was an all-state and all-conference selection… Was his team[apos]s offensive MVP… Led team to first winning record in 12 years… Threw for 1,779 yards and 19 touchdowns, while completing 55 percent of his attempts and throwing just six interceptions as a junior… Set 12 quarterback records at Dodge City High School… Also played defensive back… Played point guard on the basketball team.
