Fall 2010 (Sophomore): Posted a 5-5 record singles record and a combined with Monica Pezzotti for a 5-4 doubles record during the fall 2010 slate… Invited to the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships in Fayetteville, Ark… Went 1-1 in Fayetteville, falling in a tough three-set match to Big 12 foe Sasha Belova of Oklahoma State in the main draw, and defeated Tulsa[apos]s Caroline Beaulieu, 7-5, 6-0, in the consolation draw… Also went 1-1 at Regionals in doubles play with Pezzotti… Advanced to the finals of the Black Draw consolation bracket at the SDSU Fall Classic II.
2009-2010 (Freshman): Went 4-18 in No. 2 singles and 6-16 in No. 2 doubles with partner and current student assistant coach Kunigunda Dorn… Defeated Iowa State[apos]s Maria Fernanda Macedo in a tough three-set match, 6-7 (1), 6-3, 7-6 (4), to clinch KU[apos]s 4-3 win over the Cyclones… Finished with a 6-2 doubles record pairing with Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert… Recorded an undefeated singles (3-0) and doubles (4-0) performance in the KU Invitational… Finished the season 6-3 in singles play…Received an invitation to the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championship to compete in both singles and doubles… Made it to the consolation final round at Regionals in singles play, finishing with 2-2… Recorded a 1-1 doubles record at Regionals with partner Ekaterina Morozova… Named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
USTA and ITF: Competed on both the national and international levels in several USTA and ITF events while attending the IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla… Was a five-star prospect and ranked the No. 58 overall recruit of the class of 2009 by the Tennis Recruiting Network… One of the top players in Canada, made it to the semifinal round of the 2007 U18 Outdoor Nationals… Had a banner year in 2007 reaching as far as the quarterfinals of several elite international events.
High School: Prepped at the IMG Pendleton School for four years while attending the famed IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla., the academy that produced Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, the Williams sisters and countless other grand slam-winning tennis players… Played under head coach Jose Lambert… Won the Bollettieri Academy Player Award as a senior in 2009… Held high academic honors all four years of her high school career.
Personal: Born Sara Lazarevic in Sarajevo, Bosnia… Grew up in Calgary, Canada… Parents are Ned and Sladjana Lazarevic… An accomplished skier coached by her father Ned, who is a head instructor at Revelstroke Ski Club in Revelstroke, British Columbia, and competed in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics… Majoring in accounting.
