German Dalmagro - Women's Tennis - Kansas Jayhawks

German Dalmagro

TITLE Assistant Coach

Bio

German Dalmagro spent six years as assistant coach for the Kansas tennis program, his last during the 2012-13 school year.

Dalmagro made an instant impact on the team. In just his second season with the program, the 2008 Jayhawks exceeded expectations. They finished ranked 71st in the national poll and placed an athlete on the All-Big 12 singles team for just the 10th time in program history.

At KU, his responsibilities include on-court coaching, organizing travel and aiding in recruiting. His strong ties to the southern states have landed standout products such as current sophomore Sara Lazarevic from the IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla., junior Erin Wilbert from Metarie, La., and most recently freshman Dylan Windom, a four-star recruit out of Tifton, Ga., and Monica Pezzotti, a sophomore transfer from South Carolina-Upstate.

Dalmagro came to Kansas following a very successful playing and coaching career at Division II University of West Florida. Prior to coming his days in Crimson and Blue, Dalmagro was an assistant coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at UWF since the fall of 2005. During his year with West Florida, both teams reached the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

While Dalmagro’s coaching career at West Florida may have been brief, his impact as one of the most decorated tennis players in school history was definitely not. He was a member of UWF’s back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championship teams in 2004 and 2005, and was part of the 2005 Gulf South Conference Champion team and 2004 Gulf South runner-up squad.

Dalmagro also put together a fine individual career, at UWF and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Dalmagro’s career was highlighted by All-America honors in 2004 (doubles), 2003 (singles and doubles) and 2002 (singles and doubles). He was also ranked nationally as high as No. 3 in doubles and No. 11 in singles throughout his career.

Academics were also a strong point for Dalmagro while at West Florida, as he helped the Argonauts earn the 2004 National Award for highest team GPA and was named to the Dean’s List.

Prior to transferring to West Florida, Dalmagro played at ABAC College, where he was the NJCAA Player of the Year in 2003 and the individual National Champion in 2002. Dalmagro’s tennis coaching experience stretches far beyond his days at West Florida. He served as the head coach at the Nike Tennis Camp in Lawrenceville, N.J., in 2004 and 2005, and was also a coach at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Ga., from 2002 to 2003.

Dalmagro graduated from West Florida, earning a degree in business administration with a specialization in management.
