Brenae Williams was hired as the director of recruiting operations for the University of Kansas football staff in March of 2020. She joined the Jayhawk family after two seasons (2018-20) as the Director of Operations for UNC Asheville women’s basketball.
Williams has a history of working in athletics that dates back to her undergraduate years at Winthrop University. There, she spent four seasons as the team manager for the women’s basketball program, during which the Eagles concluded the 2014 season by winning their first-ever conference championship. She then served as an intern for the assistant coaches before landing her own first coaching position.
That first coaching position was as an assistant coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In her two seasons with the Eagles of OKWU, she helped lead the team to a 21-11 overall record in 2017-18, a second-place finish in the conference poll and advance to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Tournament semifinal round. The previous season, 2016-17, she helped recruit and coach four KCAC all-conference players and eight Academic All-Americans.
A native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Williams graduated from Winthrop with a degree in exercise science and a minor in coaching. She earned her master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in organizational leadership at Oklahoma Wesleyan while an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team.
