Daniel Heflin joined the Williams Education Fund in October 2017 as the Assistant Athletics Director for Major Gifts. Heflin’s main responsibilities are soliciting, cultivating and stewarding annual fund, major and capital campaign gifts toward the Limestone Society for facility enhancements throughout Kansas Athletics.
Prior to his move to Lawrence, the Topeka, Kansas native spent four years at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he began as a Development Officer. Shortly thereafter, Heflin was elevated to Assistant AD for Major Gifts, a role in which he was instrumental in securing philanthropic donations for The Campaign for Fearless Champions, a $160 million initiative to enhance athletic facilities.
Heflin has a diverse background in athletics development and fundraising. Before arriving at Texas Tech, he spent time at Florida Atlantic, Missouri State, Wichita State and the University of Miami.
He earned a degree in Business Administration from Georgia College & State University in 2008 where he was a member of the baseball team. In 2011, Heflin received a master’s degree in Sport Management at Wichita State University, while serving as a graduate assistant in the development office.
Heflin and his wife, Jacie Hoyt reside in Kansas City. Hoyt is the head women’s basketball coach for the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). He enjoys working out, playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
