Jane Widger-Fulton joined the Kansas Athletics Department as the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development (KU Leads) in July of 2011. During her tenure with Kansas Athletics, Fulton helped initiate the Leadership Academy, Rock Chalk Choice Awards, Jayhawk Senor Celebration along with designing recruiting events for Olympic Sports. Fulton was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development July 1, 2017. In her current position, Fulton supervises KU Leads, K Club, Sports Performance, Soccer, Softball and Swimming and Diving.
Fulton came to KU after serving as Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services at Illinois State University from 1996 – 2011. During her fifteen years at Illinois State University, Fulton oversaw all aspects of the academic progress for 450 student-athletes and developed a comprehensive Life Skills program from the ground up. Under her guidance, Illinois State produced a graduation rate for student-athletes of more than 80 percent, and during her last five semesters the department recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Before becoming the director of Illinois State’s academic programming, Fulton coached Division I softball for seven years. Fulton received a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in cardiac rehabilitation and exercise science from Eastern Illinois University.
Fulton is married to golf professional Steve Fulton.
