Mallory Gilliland joined the Kansas Athletics staff in January of 2016 after serving the previous 18 months as a graduate assistant in the events and facilities department. In her role she oversees event management for volleyball, women’s basketball, rowing, swimming & diving, indoor track & field and cross country. She also manages facility operations for the Horejsi Family Athletics Center and assists the facilities staff in all other day-to-day operations of the office.
Prior to coming to Kansas, Gilliland spent a year as the gameday operations intern at UCLA Athletics from July 2013-June 2014. During her time in Los Angeles, she planned team travel for the department’s 21 varsity sports and aided in event operations for the football and men’s basketball teams.
Gilliland graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management as well as a minor in business from Auburn University in 2013. While in Auburn she spent a semester as an intern in the event management department. She was also a three-year member of the Tiger Eyes Dance Line.
Originally from Concordia, Kansas, Gilliland graduated from Concordia High School in 2009. She competed for the Panthers’ volleyball, track & field, golf and dance teams. In the spring of 2009 Gilliland was named Kansas’ Junior Miss.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family. She has two older brothers, Ryan and Eric. Eric is the head baseball coach at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, having previously served as the T-Birds’ sports information director.
