After earning her stripes as a graduate assistant from 2014-15, Kansas Athletics elevated Mallory Gilliland to assistant director of facilities and events in January 2016 – and she has never looked back.
Since joining the Jayhawks, Gilliland earned a masters degree in Business Administration with a certificate in Supply Chain Management (2016); helped lead the construction of the new Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena (2019); garnered a promotion to Director of Facilities, Events and Capital Projects (2019); and started curriculum for a second masters degree in Construction Management.
As the Director of Facilities, Events and Capital Projects, Gilliland oversees event management for volleyball, women’s basketball, indoor track & field and cross country, and is the secondary contact for football, men’s basketball and baseball. She manages facility operations for the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena and assists the facilities and events staff in all other day-to-day operations within the office.
Prior to coming to Kansas, Gilliland spent a year as the gameday operations intern at UCLA Athletics (2013-14) where she planned team travel for the department’s 21 varsity sports and aided in event operations for the football and men’s basketball teams.
Gilliland graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management with a minor in business from Auburn University in 2013. She spent a semester as an intern in the athletics event management department and was also a three-year member and two-year captain of the Tiger Eyes Dance Line.
A 2009 graduate from Concordia High School in Concordia, Kansas, Gilliland competed for the Panthers’ volleyball, track & field, golf and dance teams, and in the spring of 2009, she was named Kansas’ Junior Miss.
