Rhett Caviel joined the University of Kansas Compliance Office in July 2021. He assists with the day-to-day operations of the office, oversees institutional monitoring initiatives, provides rules education, and works closely with the department’s Olympic sports.
Prior to KU, Caviel sat on the leadership team at William Jewell College, supervising nine of Jewell’s 20 sports. He also spent time leading the day to day operations of the Compliance Office at Fresno State, handling all compliance matters for eight of the University of Minnesota’s 25 sports, in the Compliance Office at SMU, and as an academic advisor at Missouri State University, working primarily with football.
Caviel began his compliance career at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, working as the compliance graduate assistant. He is an active member of the National Association of Athletic Compliance (NAAC) and Minority Opportunities in Athletic Administration (MOAA).
Growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, Caviel received his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration with a focus in sport and exercise science from UMKC. He was a member of the University of Missouri football team while completing his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
