Samantha Thomas, MAT, LAT, ATC
Samantha Thomas joined the Kansas Athletics staff in August 2020 and is a certified athletic trainer working with the KU’s men’s and women’s basketball programs. The training staff at Kansas Athletics is part of Kansas Team health.
Prior to KU, Thomas worked as an athletic training student while attending the University of Arkansas. As an undergrad, Thomas worked with the Arkansas football program. She earned her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology: applied exercise science, from Arkansas in May 2018. Thomas remained at the Arkansas earning her master’s degree in athletic training in May 2020.
As a grad student Thomas worked with the Fayetteville High School athletic training staff and closely with Arkansas’ track & field and gymnastics programs before coming to Kansas. Additionally, in 2019 she was a graduate student trainer with the Northwest Arkansas Ballet Theater, a professional ballet company located in Bentonville, Arkansas.
From May 2019 until August 2019, Thomas was an athletic training intern with the D.C. United Soccer Club in Washington, D.C. In her role with D.C. United, she developed therapeutic exercise programs for general maintenance and injury prevention. She used the Catapult GPS monitoring software, as well as AlterG and Blood Flow Restriction programs.
Thomas is a certified and licensed athletic trainer, a member of the NATA, American Heart Association AED and CPR Healthcare provider and is Stop the Bleed trained.
Thomas is a native Marshfield, Missouri, and enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
