Tarik Muse joined the Kansas Football Sports Performance Staff in July 2020 an assistant sport performance coach.
Muse assists in all areas of athletic development, while directly overseeing the internship curriculum and offseason team culture development.
Muse arrived in Lawrence after spending the 2019 season at Mercer as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. He assisted in the training regimens for football and men’s and women’s basketball. He was also responsible for the programming and supervision of women’s track and field, women’s golf, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis. He also assisted in the development and implementation of Mercer’s first nutritional program.
Prior to his time at Mercer, Muse served as a football strength and conditioning intern at North Carolina State. He spent the 2017 season at Youngstown State, where he served as a student strength and conditioning intern and assisted in the weight room and field training regiments with baseball, volleyball, track and field and football.
Muse has also spent time as a strength and conditioning intern at Duke and Akron.
He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American Heart Association.
Muse holds a bachelor’s in exercise science from Youngstown State and a Masters in Higher Educational Leadership from Mercer.
