Khechfe named Big 12 Co-Diver of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Big 12 Conference named Kansas senior diver Nadia Khechfe the league’s Co-Diver of the Week Friday afternoon for her performances against Nebraska (Nov. 4), as voted on by the league’s coaches.

“Nadia is one of the hardest workers and has been focused all season,” head coach Clark Campbell said. “She is one of our captains and is one of our big leaders who is a huge part of our team.”

Khechfe’s hard work and determination against the Cornhuskers earned her two third-place finishes in both the one-meter and three-meter events, respectively.

She has progressed each week in the three-meter dive, scoring a season-best 252.68 against Nebraska – almost 20 points more than her first meet dating back to Oct. 6.

“She has been invaluable to our team,” diving coach Gabe Downey said. “She has preformed very consistently and has provided tons of team points in our dual meets. Beyond that, she provides great leadership – as a vocal leader and by example. She has been working tirelessly and has done a tremendous job in the pool, in the weight room, and everywhere else. She does everything the right way, and is the catalyst for our group. She is so deserving of this award for her performance and for who she is as an athlete.”

Not only has Nadia been a great leader in the pool but out as well, creating the perfect Big 12 Co-Diver of the week.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition and be able to represent my team as the Big 12 Co-Diver of the Week,” Khechfe said. “I want to thank the coaches that voted for me. As a senior diver, this makes my last season that more memorable.”
