LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas seniors-to-be Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch both won their respective quarterfinal and semifinal matches Sunday and will now face each other in the finals of the ITA Summer Circuit at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
Koch defeated Anna Riedmiller 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals where she outlasted Claire Reifeis 7-5, 2-6, 11-9. Khmelnitckaia only lost seven combined games her in quarterfinal and semifinal matches, topping Emily Luetschwager 6-2, 6-3 and fellow Jayhawk, Julia Deming, 6-1, 6-1.
Before getting knocked out in the semifinals by Khmelnitckaia, Deming downed Ellie Strande 6-0, 4-6, 10-3 in the quarterfinals.
Monday’s final match will be played at 9 a.m.
