Jayhawk duo dominates, advances to the Oracle ITA National Summer Championships Semifinals

FORT WORTH, Texas– The University of Kansas senior-to-be tennis duo of Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch had a strong showing in day one of their competition in the Oracle ITA Summer Championships Saturday in the Lone Star State. 
 
The Jayhawks paired up in doubles play to win two matches to advance to the Semifinals. In their round of 16 match, the tandem of Khmelnitckaia and Koch defeated Reagan Collins and Isabella Dilaura, 6-2. Khmelnitckaia and Koch beat out their quarterfinal opponents, Jessica Anzo and Catherine Gulihur, 8-7.
 
In singles, Khmelnitckaia defeated University of Denver’s Anna Riedmiller, 6-1, 6-3, in her first-round match. After winning the International Tennis Association’s (ITA) Summer Circuit final at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on July 23, Koch’s success did not continue in Fort Worth as she was defeated by Nell Miller, 6-1, 6-3. 
 
Action continues for Khmelnitckaia and Koch in their Semifinal doubles match against Meghan Kelley and Anna Rodgers. First serve is still To Be Announced (TBA) at this point in time. In singles, Khmelnitckaia will look to continue her strong play against NC State’s Bianca Moldovan at 8 a.m., Sunday.
