THE BASELINE
No. 35 Kansas (14-5, 4-2 Big 12) will conclude its six-match road swing with a trip to in-state rival Kansas State (9-10, 1-5 Big 12) for the annual Dillons Sunflower Showdown on Saturday, April 16. First serve in Manhattan will take place at 2 p.m., at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.
 
THE SERIES: KANSAS vs. KANSAS STATE
Kansas leads the all-time series that began in 1976 with Kansas State, 41-13. Kansas blanked Kansas State, 4-0, at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in the two schools’ most recent Dillons Sunflower Showdown in 2015.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Kansas State has made two appearances on the ITA national rankings since the season began. In the Febuary 23 ranking release, the Wildcats were listed at No. 70. K-State made its second appearance on the rankings at the No. 65 spot when the March 8 results were released. In doubles play, Kansas State has no ranked teams, but is led by the top scoring duo of Sara Castellano and Palma Juhasz with a 6-1 mark. The Wildcats will look to Millie Stretton to build momentum in singles play. As a freshman, Stretton has the best singles record with a 13-5 mark on the season.
 
UP NEXT
Kansas will return to the friendly confines of the Jayhawk Tennis Center for its final two matches of the season against Oklahoma (Friday, April 22 at 4 p.m.) and Oklahoma State (Sunday, April 24 at 12 p.m.).
