Kansas No. 16; Rychagova moves up to No. 23 in singles

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas tennis team is ranked No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) poll released Wednesday.
 
Kansas dropped six spots after going 1-1 on the road this past weekend to start Big 12 Conference play. The Jayhawks fell short at No. 8 Oklahoma State, 4-3, then bounced back with a 4-3 victory at No. 30 Oklahoma.
 
Jayhawk senior Anastasia Rychagova, 11-1 on the season, moved up to No. 23 in the singles poll. Fellow Kansas senior Janet Koch comes in ranked No. 101.
 
Kansas’ undefeated senior doubles duo of Nina Khmelnitckaia and Koch is ranked No. 5. Meanwhile, Rychagova and freshman Sonia Smagina are ranked No. 61.

UP NEXT
No. 10 Kansas hits the road again this weekend, as the Jayhawks travel to the Lone Star state to take on Big 12 foes Baylor and Texas. KU and BU will face off Friday night, March 22, in Waco at 5 p.m., while first serve between Kansas and Texas is scheduled for noon on Sunday, March 24 in Austin.
