Kansas ranked in top-20 for 11th-straight week

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Kansas women’s tennis team comes in at No. 18 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) top-50 poll as announced Thursday morning.

This week’s ranking marks the 11th-consecutive week the Jayhawks have been among the top-20 programs in the nation. KU did not move from the April 24 list, staying at 18 after falling to Baylor, 4-2, in the quarterfinals at the Big 12 Championship on April 27.

Senior Despoina Vogasari is at No. 63 on the top-125 singles poll for the second week in-a-row. Vogasari earned a win against the Bears last week, moving her to 13-4 in dual play and 24-9 overall. She has also won 10-straight matches, the longest winning streak of her collegiate career.

Also staying at the same spot this week is junior Anastasia Rychagova. Rychagova holds the No. 8 spot and has been in the top-10 since being named the No. 1-ranked player in the nation on November 15. She is 18-3 overall, 8-1 in dual matches and 11-2 against nationally-ranked opponents.

Rychagova and fellow junior Nina Khmelnitckaia are ranked at the No. 20 position out of 90 on the doubles list. The duo has an overall record of 15-4, including 8-2 playing at the top spot for the Jayhawks in dual matches.
