Kansas tennis welcomes No. 25 Texas Tech and TCU

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After four-straight road matches to open Big 12 Conference play, No. 17 Kansas tennis welcomes No. 25 Texas Tech and TCU this weekend to start a stretch of five-consecutive matches at the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk.

The Jayhawks will face Texas Tech Friday at 5 p.m., and TCU Sunday at noon. Admission to both matches is free and pizza will be given away to those in attendance both days.

On Friday, one fan will be selected to participate in a serving contest in between the doubles and singles competition, and one fan will win a Kansas tennis t-shirt.

Sunday is Kansas’ annual “Jayhawks for a Cure” match supporting breast cancer awareness; all fans will receive a pink pom pom. In addition, fans will be able to take pictures in a photo booth.
Live scoring and streaming will be available during both matches. Updates will also be available on KU tennis’ social media platforms.

TEXAS TECH
The No. 25-ranked Lady Raiders are 13-4 overall, 3-0 in the Big 12. Texas Tech leads the all-time series against Kansas, 16-10. Last season the Jayhawks blanked the Lady Raiders in Lubbock, 4-0.

TCU
The Horned Frogs are 11-5 overall, 3-1 in the Big 12. Kansas trails the series, 6-2, but the Jayhawks currently hold a two-match win streak.

“We are excited about the opportunity to play back at home and finish out our conference season at the Jayhawk Tennis Center,” said Kansas head coach Todd Chapman. We hope we can get some great crowds out the next month and really help us finish conference play on a high note heading into the Big 12 tournament.”

This spring, the Jayhawks have beaten nine teams that are either currently ranked or have appeared in the poll this season: Northwestern, Illinois, Oklahoma, Baylor, Arkansas, Air Force, Tulsa, Rice and Wichita State. KU has not lost to any team outside the current top 13: Texas (No. 6), Oklahoma State twice (No. 9) and Washington (No. 13). Three of those four losses were by the score of 4-3.
