Rychagova, Jayhawks Earn ITA Academic Awards

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s tennis sophomore Anastasia Rychagova was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete status for the 2015-2016 school year, while the Jayhawk squad was given ITA All-Academic Team award.
 
The ITA Scholar-Athlete award is given to student-athletes who maintain a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average, are a varsity letter winner and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. The criteria for the ITA All-Academic Team award is for any program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
 
Rychagova, a native of Moscow, Russia, had an outstanding freshman fall season by opening her KU career with an 11-4 singles record. She then wrapped up her spring season with a 10-3 singles record in the Big 12 on her way to earning ITA Central Region Newcomer of the Year and Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors. Rychagova recently took home the 2016 ITA Summer Circuit doubles title alongside teammate Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum.
