Vogasari falls in the finals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas senior Despoina Vogasari fell in the singles finals at the ITA Central Regional Championship presented by Oracle at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kansas.

Vogasari played a tough match against the No. 2 seeded Vladica Babic of Oklahoma State, but ultimately dropped the match, 6-2, 7-5.

“Debbie (Vogasari) had a great tournament,” said head coach Todd Chapman. “This being her second tournament back after a year off, she’s come a long way. (Monday) boiled down to the big points, the deuce points. At times Babic was just too good on some of those points. Babic played really well.

“I don’t necessarily think Debbie lost the match to her, but Babic took the match from her in the big moments. Hopefully that’s something that Debbie can learn from and use this weekend and in California in a couple weeks for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.”

Next, the Jayhawks will host the Kansas Invitational October 27-29 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
