Stigler Listed on April’s Bowerman Watch List

NEW ORLEANS – Kansas senior Michael Stigler was one of 10 collegians named to the April edition of the Bowerman Watch List, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Wednesday. The Bowerman, known as “The Heisman Trophy” of NCAA track & field, is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track & field athletes in the nation.

Stigler made an appearance on the official 10-person watch list for the first time. The Canyon, Texas product has held the NCAA’s – and the world’s – top 400-meter hurdle time for three weeks after his school-record run at the Texas Relays on March 27. Stigler’s time of 48.44 is the fastest NCAA regular-season time since 2011, and the eighth-fastest time ever run in the month of March.

Stigler is expected to compete in his second 400-meter hurdle race of the season Saturday at the Kansas Relays. The quadrangular event final is slated for 3:16 p.m. He won the event last year and was the top collegiate finisher at the Kansas Relays in 2013.
