EUGENE, Ore. – Kansas junior Daina Levy put the finishing touches on a solid week for the Kansas track & field teams Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships inside Historic Hayward Field. Levy finished 19th in her second event of the meet as the KU women ended the week finishing 32nd in the final team standings with seven points.

Levy, competing in the NCAA Championship discus for the first time in her career, was looking to pick up First Team All-America honors for the second time in three days after she notched a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw Thursday. Her outing in the discus didn’t start as the junior had hoped with fouls on each of her opening throws. Levy managed to post a fair mark on her third and final attempt, hurling the discus to a distance of 50.64 meters (166’2″). That mark was not enough to earn her three more attempts in finals, ending her day with a 19th-place finish.

With the collegiate track season now over, several Jayhawks will turn their attention to various national and world meets set to take place later this summer. The USA Senior and Junior Championships are set for June 25-28 in Eugene.
