Emilianov places eighth at European Championships

BERLIN – Kansas track & field freshman Alexandra Emilianov finished eighth in the discus at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany on Saturday, competing for her home country of Moldova.
 
Hailing from Chisinau, Moldova, Emilianov registered a throw of 58.10 meters (190-7 ft.) on her third attempt to mark her best of the day. The throw ranks fifth on the KU track women’s all-time performances chart. She also recorded marks of 57.59 meters (188-11 ft.), 57.22 meters (187-9 ft.) and 57.07 meters (187-3 ft.), which rank fifth, eighth, ninth and 10th in Jayhawk history.

Kansas track & field alum Mason Finley will compete at the NACAC Senior Championships in Toronto on Sunday, August 12. Representing the United States, Finley is scheduled to throw in the discus starting at 1:45 p.m. EDT (12:45 p.m. CDT).
