Kansas men No. 15, women No. 19 heading into Preliminary weekend

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the week eight national rankings on Monday, with the Kansas men’s track & field team coming in at No. 15, while the Jayhawk women rank No. 19 heading into the NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, California, May 24-26.
 
The No. 15 Kansas men rose one spot from the week seven poll, while the No. 19 KU women dropped one spot from No. 18.
 
Kansas has a total of 41 entries in the West Preliminary Round, 18 for the KU men and 23 for the Jayhawk women. Kansas sophomore Jedah Caldwell leads all Jayhawks by earning entries in three total events; the 400-meter dash, as well as the 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays. Three Kansas women; Sharon Lokedi (5,000 meters, 10,000 meters), LaTyria Jefferson (long jump, high jump) and Alexandra Emilianov (shot put, discus) each earned two individual entries.
 
The NCAA West Preliminary Round will be available to stream live via FloTrack.com. Any Kansas athletes or relay teams that finish in the top-12 of their respective events at the West Prelims will qualify for the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, June 6-9.
