Kansas signee Bradford on to finals at IAAF World U20 Championships

TAMPERE, Finland – Kansas track & field signee Zach Bradford qualified for the final of the men’s pole vault while representing the United States at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland on Wednesday.
 
Bradford, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, passed on the first three heights of the day before clearing 5.20 meters (17-0.75 ft.) on his first and only attempt. His clearance put him in a tie for second in the qualification round.
 
The incoming freshman will compete in the final of the World U20 Championships on Saturday, July 14 at 1:50 p.m. local time (5:50 a.m. CDT).
 
Fellow Jayhawk Alexandra Emilianov, who is competing for her home country of Moldova, qualified for the final in the women’s discus, which will take place on Thursday, July 12 at 7:35 p.m. in Tampere (11:35 a.m. CDT).
