Kansas women No. 24 in USTFCCCA pre-championship poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Kansas women’s track & field team is ranked No. 24 in the pre-championship U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, released by the organization on Sunday.
 
The No. 24 ranking for the Jayhawk women is one spot lower than last week’s position, with this week’s poll reflecting the entries in the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships that will take place March 9-10 in College Station, Texas.
 
The Kansas women have five total entries in the upcoming championship meet, while the Jayhawk men, who rank No. 30 in this week’s pre-championship poll, also have five entries.
 
Junior Sharon Lokedi is entered in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter run at the national championships, senior Laura Taylor will compete in the pole vault and women’s 4×400-meter relay and distance medley relay teams are both entered in the meet.
 
The men’s team will see sophomore Bryce Hoppel run the 800 meters, senior Barden Adams compete in the triple jump, junior Hussain Al Hizam jump in the pole vault, senior Nicolai Ceban throw in the shot put and the men’s 4×400-meter relay team run at the national championships.
 
ESPN3 will stream the meet live starting at 5:30 p.m. CST, March 9, and starting at 4 p.m., March 10. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 11 on ESPN2.
