LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track & field will send a select group of student-athletes to one of two pre-conference tune-up meets this weekend, in hopes of posting qualifying marks for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships next month.

A small group of pole vaulters, 60-meter hurdlers, 400-meter dash runners and 200-meter dash runners will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday, February 16 at the Randal Tyson Track Center, and a group of relay teams will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, February 17 in South Bend, Indiana.

ARKANSAS QUALIFIER
Hurdlers Nick Guisti, Christian Hicks, Darius Releford, Daria Cook and Gabbi Dabney, pole vaulters Alexis Romero, Andrea Willis and Kyle Rogers, and sprinters David-Marquis Patrick, Cody Johnson and Marcus Davis are scheduled to compete at the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday. The meet will be streamed live on SEC Network+ via WatchESPN.com and live results will be available through FlashResults.com.

ALEX WILSON INVITATIONAL
A small Kansas contingent of relay teams will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational, looking to duplicate the success from the same meet a year ago. At the 2017 iteration of the meet, the Kansas women’s distance medley relay team of Riley Cooney, Nicole Montgomery, Whitney Adams and Hannah Richardson broke the Kansas women’s indoor school record in the event, posting a time of 11:01.85. Later in the day, the Kansas men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Ivan Henry, Tre Daniels, Jaron Hartley and Strymar Livingston broke their own school record in the event, clocking in at 3:05.57.

This year, the women’s DMR team is expected to consist of Hannah Dimmick, Courtney Coppinger, Sharon Lokedi and Montgomery. The quartet have all had impressive indoor campaigns this season, including Lokedi breaking two school records.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay team will likely feature Daniels, Hartley, Isaiah Cole and Henry on Saturday, and they will look to improve their season-best time of 3:08.32, which currently ranks No. 24 in the NCAA this season.
