Jayhawks fall to Texas Tech in five sets
LUBBOCK, Texas –Β Kansas volleyball fell to Texas Tech in five sets on Wednesday night inside United Supermarkets Arena.
It was a back-and-forth affair from the second the match began between the two Big 12 teams.
In the first set, both teams led by as many as four points but the set was a fight down to the very end. The Red Raiders tallied the final two points to earn the 25-22 set victory.
Set two, however, was a different story as the Jayhawks found rhythm against the Texas Tech defense. KU led by as many as 10 points in the set and claimed a 25-16 set victory, which tied the match at one set each.
Texas Tech came firing back in set three, forcing it to go the distance. After both teams were tied at 25 points, it was the Jayhawks who came out on top thanks to a kill by senior Zoe Hill to give KU the 2-1 set lead.
KU was unable to hold onto its momentumΒ and fell behind early in set four. The Jayhawks fought back late but it was not enough to overcome the Red Raider offense.
The fifth set proved to be another battle with both squads tied at nine points, but ultimately Texas Tech claimed the set 15-11 and won the match.
Sophomore Camryn Ennis led the way for Kansas as she finished the night with a team-high 13 kills. She was one of four Jayhawks to finish the night in double figures. Junior Sara Nielsen once again led KU in assists (39).
