Kansas enters latest national poll at No. 22

LEXINGTON, Ky. – On the heels of a nine-match winning streak, the Kansas volleyball team entered the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I poll for the first time this season, sitting in the No. 22 spot, as voted on by the coaches.

The Jayhawks (13-4, 6-0 Big 12) remain the only undefeated Big 12 team in league play and have beat two top-25 teams during that span, including then-No. 23 Baylor (Oct. 6) and then-No. 4 Texas (Oct. 10). With help from those top-25 wins, Kansas increased its RPI ranking to No. 19.

Additionally, the nine-match winning streak is the fifth-longest active streak amongst Power Five teams and the perfect conference mark is just one of six in the same field.

This is the first national ranking for Kansas since the Nov. 27, 2017 AVCA poll (19).

Kansas will take that No. 22 rank into the first of two Dillons Sunflower Showdown contests against Kansas State, when the Jayhawks travel to Manhattan, Wednesday, Oct. 17. First serve is slated for 8 p.m., inside Ahearn Field House and can be seen on ESPNU.
