LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 8 Kansas volleyball will play host to Baylor, one of the hottest teams in the country, on Saturday afternoon inside Horejsi Family Athletics Center (1 p.m. Central, JTV/ESPN3).

The Jayhawks will begin the second half of their 28-match regular season with a 12-2 record and 1-1 mark during Big 12 play. Last time out, Kansas lost in four sets at now-No. 4 Texas. Through two conference matches, junior outside hitter Madison Rigdon leads Kansas with 4.3 kills per set.

It will be a formidable defensive matchup as Kansas and Baylor enter the weekend ranked first and second, respectively, in the Big 12 in hitting percentage allowed and kills per set allowed. The Jayhawks feature a superb back-row defense with the Big 12’s leader in digs per set, libero Cassie Wait, while Baylor’s net protectors lead the Big 12 in blocks.

After a sluggish start to the season with losses to UT Rio Grande Valley and UC-Santa Barbara, the Bears (14-4, 2-0) are now winners of 10-straight matches, including a three-set sweep over then-No. 23 Kansas State to open Big 12 play on Sept. 25. Baylor outside hitter Katie Staiger was named AVCA National Player of the Week for her 23-kill, 11-dig effort against the Wildcats.

In the series against Baylor, Kansas has won the last six matches overall and five-straight wins inside Horejsi Family Athletics Center. The series is even, 20-20, since the start of Big 12 play in 1996.

The match will be televised on the Jayhawk Television Network – available on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel in the state of Kansas and the Kansas City area or streaming online through ESPN3. Live radio coverage will be available on KLWN-AM 1320 or KUAthletics.com/radio.

FOR FANS: LATE NIGHT PARKING
