Volleyball Signs Zoe Hill

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas volleyball head coach Ray Bechard announced the signing of middle blocker Zoe Hill (Houston, Texas) to the Jayhawks’ 2016 roster on Friday.

Hill, a 5-foot-11 incoming freshman, is a member of the 2015 adidas All-American Watch List and comes to Lawrence as a three-time All-District and 2015 All-State performer at Glenda Dawson High School in the Houston area.

“Zoe has the ability to make an immediate impact for us next year because her athleticism is a great match for our fast-paced tempo,” Bechard said. “She has the quickness and the bounce to be successful in the system that we are going to run.”

Hill was named the 2015 Offensive Player of the Year at Glenda Dawson and holds a school-record 300 career blocks, while her work in the classroom earned Academic All-State distinction in 2015. She competed in club volleyball with Houston Stellar for three years.

“Zoe was somewhat of a late-bloomer in the recruiting process,” Bechard said. “She comes to the University of Kansas very driven to play at the highest level possible.”

Hill joins defensive specialist Allie Nelson (Chicago, Ill.) and outside hitter Jada Burse (DeSoto, Texas) to complete KU’s 2016 recruiting class.

Kansas will return five starters from a squad that finished last season ranked No. 4 in the nation after compiling a 30-3 record and advancing to the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship semifinals.
