Gardner Earns First Big 12 Weekly Honor of 2014-15

IRVING, Texas – Kansas forward Chelsea Gardner was selected as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 26 after her historic performance on Saturday against West Virginia. The 6-3 senior earned her first Big 12 Conference weekly honor of the season and third of her career.

The DeSoto, Texas native recorded 20 points and 20 rebounds in Kansas’ win over West Virginia, marking the first time in over 33 years for a KU player to reach the 20-20 milestone. It also marked Gardner’s fifth double-double of the season as she finished 9-for-14 (69.2) from the field, while also swatting two shots.

Earlier in the week, Gardner recorded 20 points and grabbed eight boards in a come-from-behind win at Texas Tech. Gardner averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the floor as the Jayhawks picked up their first two conference wins of the season.
