Gardner Earns Second Big 12 Weekly Honor in 2014-15

IRVING, Texas – Kansas senior forward Chelsea Gardner was named the season’s final Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the week, as voted on by a panel of media covering the conference. The accolades marks Gardner’s second player of the week honor this season and fourth in her career.

Gardner scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Kansas to a win over Iowa State on senior night (3/2). The double-double was the 27th of her career and ninth of the season. She recorded 11 of her 25 points from the free throw line, which helped KU maintain its lead over the Cyclones late in the game.

For the third time in the last six outings, Gardner swatted away five blocks. She has tallied 22 blocks in the six games and is one block away from becoming just the second Jayhawk to record over 200 blocks in their KU career. The senior forward has career totals to date of 1,502 points and 874 rebounds as the fourth Jayhawk to tally over 1,400 points and 850 rebounds.

Kansas faces Kansas State in the first round of the Big 12 Championship on March 6 at 6 p.m., inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The game will air on FCS and the Jayhawk Radio Network.
